We all hope to keep our teeth for as long as possible, but life doesn’t always go according to plan. As we age there are a variety of reasons why a tooth may no longer be able to be restored and removing the tooth may be the only option.

What is a basic tooth extraction?

A basic tooth extraction involves removing a tooth in the dental chair without the need for oral surgery, suturing (stitches), sedation or general anaesthesia. The tooth is numbed with a localised anaesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable for you. Without any unexpected complications (teeth can sometimes be unpredictable) removing the tooth can often be completed in less than 10 minutes. Most of the appointment is spent waiting for the tooth and surrounding area to feel numb.

It is usually recommended to take it easy after an extraction. Most people take the rest of the day off work, but unless there are any complications they tend to return to their normal activities the following day, being careful with the area where the tooth has been removed. Your dental professional will discuss whether some temporary mild pain relief may be recommended.

A $99 basic tooth extraction appointment is for the non-surgical removal of one tooth and includes any x-rays and/or diagnostic tests required to assess the tooth before removal.

If we find your tooth requires a different approach for extraction which is outside the SwiftQ Dental scope of practice we will recommend a nearby dental professional or specialist who we know and trust.

SwiftQ Dental does not provide tooth replacement or prosthetic services and the cost of such items is not a part of the $99 basic tooth extraction.
